5 reasons why every freelancer should get the Chase Ink Business Cash Card

Freelancing is very flexible; being able to choose your working hours is a huge draw. But there’s another huge perk that I personally value too. almost Likewise: Qualify for a small business credit card.

Okay, this might sound silly, but as a credit card enthusiast, I absolutely love being able to expand my rewards card selection. The first business card I ever received was the awesome Ink Business Cash® Credit Card.

Here are some of the reasons I’m so passionate about it.

Special offers: Save money when paying off debt with one of these top balance transfer credit cards

1. Welcome bonus up to $750 cash rebate

This card offers a generous welcome bonus right away. Earn up to $750 in bonus cash back: $350 when you spend $3,000 in the first three months, and an additional $400 when you spend $6,000 in the first 6 months.

That’s a reasonable payout requirement for such a high bonus, especially since you ultimately have six months to meet it. (In my case, I easily get this bonus by paying my quarterly estimated taxes using my card.)

2. 5% rebate on Internet and mobile services

The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card offers a variety of bonus reward categories for different purposes. What you will get:

  • 5% cash back at office supply stores
  • 5% cash back on Internet, cable and phone services
  • 2% cash back at gas stations
  • 2% cash back at restaurants
  • 1% cash back on purchases

The 5% bonus category has a cap on total category spend of $25,000 per year, but that’s probably far more than most freelancers spend on office supplies and networking.

While the office supplies bonus is nice, what really caught my eye and my wallet was the 5% back on Internet, cable TV, and phone service. When I started working from home, my internet bill alone doubled, and I was excited to update the automatic payment feature on my mobile bill the same day I launched the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card.

3. 120-day purchase guarantee

I’ve only used the Office Supplies Bonus reward category a few times, usually to purchase a new piece of technology or office furniture. However, it wasn’t just the bonus rewards that motivated me to pay with the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card – I also wanted purchase protection.

Cardholders receive up to 120 days of purchase protection on qualifying purchases made with the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card. If a product you purchased is damaged or stolen, your claim may be up to $10,000 per claim and $50,000 per account. That’s peace of mind for that expensive new laptop or expensive office chair!

4. Business car rental protection

Sometimes, as a freelancer, it’s hard to say where life and work will take you. If your next business trip happens to involve renting a car, consider paying with your Ink Business Cash® credit card.

While this isn’t the most lucrative rewards card for travel shopping, you get something almost as valuable: car rental collision damage coverage. As long as you’re renting a car for business purposes, you can waive the rental company’s collision coverage and rely on your card’s primary coverage.

There are several types of vehicles that are not included (sorry, luxury car rentals are not available here), so be sure to read the fine print before renting.

5. No annual fee

By now, you probably have an idea of how much savings the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card offers. So it might come as a bit of a shock to realize that all of this comes with no annual fee. That’s right, keeping this card in your wallet will cost you a whopping $0.

For me, no annual fee means I don’t have to worry about how often I’m using the card, or whether I’m optimizing every benefit and feature. If my only purchases in a given month are my cell phone and internet bills, then earning 5% interest is enough to keep this card afloat since there is no annual fee.

A great credit card for any freelance worker

No matter what kind of freelancing you do, there’s a good chance you’ll take advantage of at least one of this card’s awesome cash back categories. Add in the other benefits—and no annual fee—and you have a credit card that fits any freelancer’s wallet.
