‘Can’t wait to get started’: Penticton’s Wes Ink Montreal-born defender


With the BCHL offseason upon us, Penticton Way announced the signing of a new defenseman.

The Vees sign Julien Wasmer 2024-2025 the club said on Wednesday, June 5.

Wasmer, 18, spent the past two seasons with the Smiths Falls Bears of the Central Canadian Hockey League.

“His game has evolved over the past two years from being a solid defender to now showing the ability to create offense,” Vis head coach, general manager and president Fred Harbinson said.

“Adding additional experience on the back end, along with our talented young men, will once again make our back end one of our team’s key strengths.”

Wasmer, a left-handed shooting defenseman at the University of Maine, scored 33 points in 44 games at Smiths Falls last season.

The Montreal, Que., product also earned a silver medal for Team Canada East at the 2023 World Junior A Challenge in Truro, Nova Scotia.

“I am proud and excited to join the Vees for the upcoming season,” Wassmer said.

“I can’t wait to get started.”
