Man arrested for throwing ink on Congress LS candidate Kanhaiya Kumar in Delhi

New Delhi: Delhi Police said a 41-year-old man was arrested for throwing ink at Kanhaiya Kumar, the Congress Lok Sabha candidate from northeast Delhi.

The accused was identified as Ajay Kumar alias Ranbir Bhatti, a resident of New Usmanpur.

According to the police, at 6:53 pm on May 17, the police control room received a call about the ink incident.

“Congress candidate Kanhaiya Kumar was spotted attending a meeting at the AAP office at Swami Satyanarain Bhawan 4th Pushta, New Usmanpur. AAP MP Chhaya Sharma chaired the meeting.

After the meeting, when Chhaya Sharma came down to see off Kanhaiya Kumar, some people came and laid garlands on Kumar.

“After garlanding him, some people threw ink on Kumar and tried to attack him. When Chhaya Sharma tried to intervene, they misbehaved and threatened her,” the DCP said.

“One person was arrested on Monday while efforts are on to round up others,” the DCP added.
