Broncos ink Grand Canyon transfer Marquis Josephs

Kalamazoo, MI – Western Michigan Men’s Basketball Program and Head Coach Dwayne Stephens Announced the signing of guard Marquese Josephs, a 6-1 transfer from Grand Canyon University. Josephs is the fifth recruit the Broncos have signed for the 2024-25 season, joining transfers Chansey Willis Jr. and Donovan Williams, and Incoming freshmen EJ Ryans and Junior Sileu. Williams came to Kalamazoo with three years of eligibility remaining.

“Marquez will be a great addition to our program,” coach Stephens said. “He is a good student from a great family. Marquez has the experience to win at the highest level. He is a strong and athletic defender who can really impact the game both offensively and defensively.

Josephs comes to Western Michigan from a Grand Canyon program that won the WAC regular season and tournament titles and reached the second round of the NCAA tournament last season. As a true freshman at Lopez, he appeared in 14 games, including a run in the WAC Tournament Championship Game. Josephs was a prolific shooter for GCU, going 7-for-9 from the field (.778) and 7-for-8 from the free throw line (.875).

Josephs, a Toronto native, moved to the Phoenix area before his junior year of high school, which he spent at Bella Vista Prep. He then completed his prep career, graduating from Dream City Christian School in Glendale, Arizona.
