Azercosmos and Esri Global ink agreement to advance GIS education and research in Azerbaijan – Aze.Media


The cooperation aims to promote the use of geospatial information in research and educational activities in Azerbaijan.

As part of this MOU, Esri donated software licenses to Baku Engineering University, Baku State University, and the Institute of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. These licenses will provide students and researchers with advanced GIS software, allowing them to propose and visualize innovative solutions to contemporary problems such as climate change, water management, food security, natural disasters and sustainable development.

This measure aims to improve the professional knowledge of the local workforce in geographic information systems and promote progress in various fields through the application of geographic information technology. Esri is well-positioned to support these education and research activities in Azerbaijan with its global reach and innovative solutions in digital transformation, Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced analytics.
