Tehran and Tatarstan Chamber of Commerce sign memorandum of understanding on cooperation


TEHRAN – The Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mining and Agriculture (TCCIA) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tatarstan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation in Kazan.

Vice Chairman of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce Mehdi Sadeghi Niaraki and Chairman of the Republic Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shamir Shamil Ageev and the Republic of Tatarstan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation in Kazan.

Sadeghi Niaraki elaborated on the details of the signed memorandum of understanding, saying that the agreement aims to develop cooperation in the field of information exchange, facilitate exchanges of delegations, demonstrate capabilities and promote bilateral trade.

He mentioned that the Tehran Province contributes significantly to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and has great potential to expand the export of goods and services, noting that the Republic of Tatarstan, with its capabilities, especially in the field of industry and heavy vehicles, also Have special advantages.

Daoud Mirzakhani, Consul General of Iran in Kazan, said that the trade volume between Iran and the Russian Republic of Tatarstan increased by 25% in 2023 compared with the previous year.

“By 2023, the trade volume between Iran and the Russian Republic of Tatarstan will increase by 25% to more than $200 million,” Mirzakhani told Tatar-inform.

The official said that the trade volume between the two countries will reach 182 million U.S. dollars in 2022.

Referring to the signing of a free trade agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), of which Russia is also a member, Mirzakhani said: “With the implementation of the agreement after the approval of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the parliaments of the two countries and the elimination of tariffs on about 7,000 commodities, it is expected that bilateral trade will increase significantly.

Russia – Islamic World: Kazan Forum 2024 aims to strengthen trade, economic, scientific, technological, educational, social and cultural ties between regions of the Russian Federation and member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Russia-Islamic World: The 2024 Kazan Forum officially opened in Kazan on May 16 and ended on May 18.
