MMDA signs motorcycle academy certification agreement with LTO

Under the agreement, motorcyclists applying for a driving license must pass a motorcycle academy exam.

MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on Monday signed an agreement with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to establish the MMDA Motorcycle Riding Academy as an accredited practical driving test center.

Under the agreement, motorcyclists applying for a driving license must pass a motorcycle academy exam.

Tests include snaking maneuvers, left turns and stops in boxes, cones and U-turns, as well as acceleration and sudden braking.

In addition to practical exams, the motorcycle academy will also be interconnected with the LTO’s land traffic management system.

The LTO will appoint driver skills assessors to conduct the test, the MMDA said.

The Motorcycle Riding Academy was established in September 2023 and is located at the corner of Julia Vargas and Meralco Avenues in Pasig.
