A celebrity tattoo removal company has revealed how long it took for Post Malone to have his face tattoo-free after his ink-less cameo in Taylor Swift’s new music video.

The two superstars teamed up for the internet-shattering album Fortnightly, which saw Malone replace his 14 facial tattoos with Swift having none.

It’s quite a feat for Malone, who has previously mentioned how getting his face tattoos gave him a confidence boost after being “insecure” about his appearance.

While the clip gives us a glimpse of what the singer looks like without his famous tattoos, his instant transformation was just for the cameras.

The actual removal meant Malone had to undergo hours of treatment over several months.

Celebrity long-lasting tattoo removal company NAAMA has shared details of how long it takes to get tattoos removed from Post Malone and many other A-list stars.

According to Gitnux, approximately 225 million people worldwide have at least one tattoo.

According to Straits Research, the global tattoo removal market is estimated to be worth up to £1.5 billion, and many people seem to regret it.

Emma Margetts, chief executive of London-based studio NAAMA, has seen numerous A-list clients unhappy with their body art.

“One of the most common questions we get from clients before they commit to tattoo removal is how long it might take,” she says.

The answer to this question is not that simple. This is different for everyone.

“The time it takes to remove a tattoo depends on the specific qualities of the tattoo itself, such as ink color, density and location on the body, plus the speed of the laser used and the health of the client’s immune system.”

They estimate it will take eight to 10 sessions over the course of a year to remove Post Malone’s facial tattoos.

Emma added: “Tattoos on the head, face and neck can be removed well but can be more painful as the skin on the face is thinner and more sensitive.”

machine gun kelly

Looking at other celebrities, laser tattoo removal experts say it would take a dizzying 20 to 30 sessions to remove Machine Gun Kelly’s body art

In early April, Machine Gun Kelly revealed that it took him seven grueling sessions to lose feeling in his upper body.

The 33-year-old Emo Girl rapper has been slammed by fans for his tattoos, which he initially unveiled in February, explaining that they were only for “spiritual purposes.”

According to the laser removal experts at NAAMA, removing the rapper’s delicate tattoos will be a longer process.

They revealed that a large black tattoo covered up would require 20 to 30 treatments over a period of two to three years.

Emma said: “It will be a tough and long job for the rock star as the ink is very thick and the blackout will cover older tattoos.”

“There’s a lot of pigment that needs to be broken down.”

Ed Sheeran

Tattoo removal expert predicts Ed Sheeran could have tattoos removed in 12 to 13 months as yellow ink is ‘notoriously difficult to remove’

Ed Sheeran’s famous tattoo required 10 to 12 sessions over 12 to 13 months to remove, but complete removal of a non-solid tattoo may not be possible.

“We wanted the reds, blues and greens to be easy to remove,” says Emma. “Solid colors respond very well to treatment, but when colors are mixed, the ink can oxidize and change color.”

“Yellow is notoriously difficult to remove because the ink contains a lot of white. At NAAMA, we use a unique laser that excels at removing blue and green colors.

Harry Styles

Harry Styles needed 10 months and 10 to 12 sessions to remove 55 tattoos

Harry Styles’ body is dotted with numerous tattoos, from a naked mermaid to a tribute to his family.

It’s estimated that the former One Direction member has a dizzying 55 tattoos in total.

To remove all of the singer’s delicate tattoos, the laser company estimates they can remove them in 10 to 12 sessions over about 10 months.

Emma says: “Chest tattoos tend to remove faster because good blood circulation helps the lymphatic system remove the ink.”

Megan Fox

Megan Fox’s new black and gray phoenix tattoo will reportedly take eight to ten months to remove.

In February, Meghan debuted her expanded tattoo collection, revealing an entire sleeve on her left arm.

At the Grammys, the Hollywood bombshell showed off a detailed black and gray tattoo of a flying phoenix with blooming flowers drawn in red ink.

According to NAAMA, the top, shaded portion of Meghan’s tattoo will be removed quickly over about 8 to 10 months, requiring about 8 to 10 sessions.

Emma said: “This is Meghan’s most recent tattoo. New tattoos can be removed but we will have to wait until the skin has completely healed before treatment, which is about six weeks after the tattoo is done.”

“Black and red inks respond well to removal treatments using different wavelength combinations.”

Travis Barker

The Blink-182 drummer is covered in tattoos from head to toe.

The heavily tattooed musician recently had a cherub, or angel, holding a cross on the back of his shaved head, near his right ear.

Travis’ tattoo was done by tattoo artist Chuey Quintanar, who also shared several photos of the process.

It is estimated that Barker underwent about 20 surgeries over two years to remove the tattoos.

Emma said: “We would have liked to see his face tattoos removed first but many of his tattoos have thick ink which will take longer to decompose.”

David Beckham

Former England captain David Beckham’s body art takes shorter time to remove, with just 10 to 12 treatments over 18 months leaving him ink-free

David Beckham is famous for his body art and has several illustrations engraved on his body.

Recently, the world-famous footballer added another tattoo to his collection.

In September 2023, the former England captain headed to Mark Mahoney’s world-famous Shamrock Social Club.

Sitting on a chair in the studio, Beckham showed his followers that he was getting a stick and poke from the A-list tattoo artist.

However, if one day he decides not to get any more tattoos, NAAMA believes he will need at least 10 to 12 sessions over 18 months.

“The shadows from Beckham’s tattoo can be removed very well and he will see great results after six sessions. A healthy immune system will also clear the ink faster.
