Malaysia Airlines Group signs three-year partnership with Tourism Malaysia to promote tourism initiatives

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Malaysia Airlines Group Bhd (MAG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tourism Malaysia, establishing a three-year collaboration aimed at boosting the country’s tourist arrivals targets.

The MoU will open the door to the creation and implementation of a three-year partnership program in key foreign markets. This is not just an initiative for leisure travelers; it also includes transit travelers as well as meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE). In addition, the partnership will form the basis of Malaysia Airlines’ Bonus Side Trip (BST) program, which provides passengers with free journeys to domestic locations on the Malaysia Airlines network.

The country’s Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026) plan aims to achieve a target revenue of RM147.1 billion, with 35.6 million tourists expected to arrive. Malaysia hopes to welcome 27.3 million tourists this year, with a tourism budget of RM102.7 billion.

When it comes to partnerships, MAG Airlines CEO Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi “We look forward to working with Tourism Malaysia to leverage our strengths as a national airline and aviation hub to pursue sustainable traffic growth in an increasingly competitive environment.”

He added: “With our strong network and track record of working with partners through trade and consumer initiatives, we are well-positioned to support the country’s tourism ambitions. This partnership reinforces MAG’s commitment to delivering Malaysia is positioned as the gateway to Asia and beyond, supporting the goals of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026).

at the same time, Manoharan Periasamy, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, “More joint activities are planned, including study tours to Malaysia, marketing promotions and advertising campaigns to promote Malaysia as a preferred holiday destination on the global stage,” said the company.
