Maersk and Vestas sign MOU for wind turbine logistics with focus on South Korea

Shipping giant Maersk has signed a joint investment memorandum of understanding (MOU) with wind turbine manufacturer Vestas. The two companies aim to establish an offshore wind turbine nacelle manufacturing plant and logistics base at the Mokpo New Port hinterland complex in South Korea.

Maersk CEO Vincent Clerc and Vestas Chief Operating Officer Tommy Rahbek Nielsen attended the signing ceremony.

Additionally, Vestas said the partnership aims to strengthen the local economy by potentially employing local talent and partnering with local companies.

In addition, Jeollanam-do and Mokpo City will provide necessary administrative and financial support to create a sustainable supply chain.

The plan depends on the market growth rate and the number of Vestas awards.
